Digital Film AS & Certificate

Welcome to SRJC's Digital Filmmaking Program.

Testimonial

"I honestly can't thank SRJC enough for the preparation for film school. I attended NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. SRJC put me ahead of the game among my colleagues. For any of those who wish to transfer to a 4-Year Film University, this is truly the place to be. Currently I am working at Cinetic Media, a large distribution and sales firm for many well-known feature films like Boyhood, Little Miss Sunshine, and Moonlight. I really owe it all to the professors at SRJC who prepared me to succeed.

DIGITAL FILMMAKING CERTIFICATE

SRJC’s Digital Media Production classes are project-based learning environments where students study theory while testing those concepts on actual productions.   Students work in teams and have access to a variety of production technologies.   In-class productions use industry-standard equipment, such as the Red Scarlet camera and Canon’s C300.   Classes can be taken in screenwriting (Media 22 & Media 123), fiction production (Media 20 & Media 21), non-fiction production (Journalism 55) and studio multi-camera production (Media 19).

This program will prepare students for broadcast and commercials, digital photography, documentary/biography production, legal and forensic video production, duplication and transfer, DVD authoring/mastering, videos for websites, online advertisements, public service announcements, industrial and corporate training videos, live internet streaming, live seminar capture, music videos, post production/editing, sports/performance events, media tech work on live events (including video production troubleshooting) and web video production/encoding.

Upon successful completion of this program, the student will be able to:

1. Produce a professional quality video project using industry standard non-linear editing software and audio editing software;
2. Use DVD authoring software to create a project with multiple menus and special features for playback on the Web or DVD.
